As the UFC comes of age this November with it’s 21st birthday, Art Davie, UFC creator and author of the book Is This Legal?: The Inside Story of the First UFC from the Man Who Created It, will make two important appearances in the near future.

On October 4 at 3:00-4:00pm, Barnes & Noble Booksellers at Rainbow Promenade in Las Vegas will host an Is This Legal? book signing, featuring Mr. Davie. The address is 2911 North Rainbow Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89108. Is This Legal? is currently stocked in all Barnes & Noble bookstores as well as www.barnesandnoble.com.

Additionally, on November 16 in Reno, NV, Mr. Davie will be honored at the Legends of MMA Hall of Fame induction ceremony as a member of their 2014 class. Mr. Davie goes in alongside such luminaries as famed MMA referee “Big” John McCarthy, first UFC welterweight champion and celebrated coach Pat Miletich, former PRIDE FC heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend Rickson Gracie. Sean Wheelock, co-author for Is This Legal? and Bellator MMA play-by-play announcer, will present Mr. Davie with his induction.

“It’s an honor to be inducted with such luminaries as Pat Miletich, Fedor Emelianenko, Rickson Gracie and my friend, “Big” John McCarthy. I’m humbled and thrilled to be part of this class of worthies who made their bones the hard way,” said Mr. Davie on his nomination.

Founded in 2013, the Legends of MMA Hall of Fame looks to honor “people who have contributed an extreme amount of hard work, knowledge, support, dedication, and entertainment to the sport of mixed martial arts.” Already inducted in the Hall are MMA fighters and personalities such as Royce Gracie, Randy Couture, Bas Rutten, Don Frye, Frank Shamrock, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Javier Mendez, Stephen Quadros, and Erik Paulson, among others.

Since it’s release in July, Is This Legal? has ranked among Amazon’s top-five selling sports and martial arts biographies numerous times in both the paper and digital categories. Multiple sports and MMA writers and websites have published glowing book reviews, including Mike Straka, WrestlingObserver.com, TheMMACorner.com, CagePotato.com, and TheFightNerd.com.

Is This Legal? is Mr. Davie’s tell-all memoir about creating the inaugural UFC over 20 years ago. Taking place on November 12, 1993 in Denver, CO, UFC 1 stands as a revolutionary moment in marital arts and combat sports, when ten men competed in a one-night, style-versus-style martial arts tournament that captured the imagination of 4,000 attending fans and almost 90,000 households across America via pay-per-view TV.

Described as equal parts Abner Doubleday, PT Barnum, and Dr. James Naismith, Mr. Davie tells a vivid and fast-moving first-person account of navigating through a world of financial risks, political power-plays, egotistical fighters, family feuds, and numerous powder-keg situations – all to answer the age-old question of who is the world’s best fighter?

Is This Legal? also features a highly improbable cast of characters, including Academy Award nominee John Milius, NFL Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown, action film star Chuck Norris, kickboxing champ Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez, Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Rorion Gracie and pay-per-view TV pioneer Bob Meyrowitz.

Mr. Davie will be available for interviews at both events, as scheduled in advance through Jay Tan, reachable at (213) 618-0332 or jtan@TanDynasty.com.
