Art DavieArt Davie

Art Davie comes from the advertising agency world. He was an account executive and copywriter in West Coast advertising agencies in the USA for many years. But that was before he had an epiphany in 1993 and created The
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that pitted boxers, wrestlers and martial artists against each other to discover the king of combat sports.

The UFC franchise, which exploded on Pay-Per-View TV, and is still going strong decades later, spawned the worldwide sports phenomenon known as mixed martial arts (MMA). In addition to being the UFC’s creator, Davie was a co-producer, booker, matchmaker and served as the Commissioner of Ultimate Fighting. Davie attended New York Military Academy, St. John’s University and Pace College in New York. He served a four year hitch in the Marines, stationed at the Pentagon, where he had a top secret clearance in the communications center for the Commandant of the Marine Corp; and a year in the Republic of Vietnam, where he was awarded the Navy Achievement medal with combat ‘V’.

Returning to civilian life, Davie worked as a counselor in New York City with young gangs in the Crisis Task Force / Youth Services Agency. Art owned a car dealership and an advertising agency in San Diego; and currently makes his home in Pahrump, Nevada. Davie serves as an example of rugged entrepreneurism. Is This Legal? is his first book.
